JOE asked: Their May 08 issue doesn’t even have any pictures of the new 2009 Nissan Maxima. They have never had a fair and full review on the beloved and powerful Maxima. Yet they have a full review of the redesigned Acura TSX. CAR&DRIVER has always been biased towards some car companies. They are probably paid by BMW and Honda to have their cars on top of every comparison test even when they don’t perform as well as the other competitors. What are your thoughts on this matter?
I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A FAN OF THE NISSAN MAXIMA. THE MAXIMA, LIKE ALL OTHER CARS, HAS ITS NEGATIVES (FRONT-WHEEL-DRIVE) BUT OVERALL, IT’S A VERY RELIABLE, POWERFUL AND EXCITING CAR THAT LOOKS BETTER THAN MOST OTHER CARS AND PERFORMS LIKE A 4 DOOR SPORTS CAR FOR THOUSANDS LESS THAN ITS COMPETITORS.

C/D is a very biased magazine, although I wouldn’t be whining about the Maxima losing. They do favor Honda and BMW as if they were gods on earth. Case in point, a couple years back in the cheap speed comparo the slowest car, an Acura, won. In the $100,000 the XLR-v came in last even though it has the best styling and completely blew the other cars away in performance, simply because of the gotta-have-it factor. Remember when the ‘Stang beat the GTO, just because of that category? That’s their way of messing with the scores.
I agree that the Maxima is a great car just like the Hyundai Azera. I bought a 2000 Nissan Maxima SE in July of 1999 and drove it until January 2007 when I bought a new 2006 Hyundai Azera, both of these cars are better then the best Honda/Toyota cars…and yes I’ve driven the Avalon/Camry/Accord/Civic. I’d love to own another Maxima one day, but I do love my new luxury car Azera. I don’t read Car & Driver, stick with Edmunds.com for my car info or the car brands webpage for updates.
